About Chiropractic - What is an Adjustment? What is Chiropractic | How Does Chiropractic Work? | What is an Adjustment? | What is a Subluxation?
Chiropractic joint manipulation, or adjustment, is a treatment in which the chiropractor uses his or her hands to apply a very quick, precise, and safe amount of pressure directly on the problem area of your spine. This pressure momentarily alters the joints, allowing a gas bubble to “pop” and redisolve (this is the popping sound or cracking noise you might have heard about). This relieves the pressure on the surrounding nerves, and most importantly allows your spine to move towards its proper position. The adjustment is not painful, and often provides immediate relief or lessening of your pain. Spinal misalignments can also be corrected using a gentle mechanical adjusting device such as an Activator or a Torque Release instrument. The treatment of choice can vary depending on the age and size of the patient, as well as whether or not there are any other health issues present such as a pregnancy or Osteoporosis. Ask us which method is best suited to you and your condition. |
